Citizen’s Forum expresses concern over poor medical facilities

JAMMU, Oct 15: Expressing serious concern over the existing medical facilities in Jammu, Citizen’s Forum has alleged that poor patients in Government Medical College (GMC) and other government hospitals in Jammu region are being asked to bring medicines from outside the hospitals.
“We appeal to the Governor S.P Malik and PM Modi to stop funds worth thousands of crores for purchasing medicines and other medical items if these are not given to the needy poor patients admitted in government hospitals of Jammu region,” R.K Chadha-the Forum president stated in a handout.
Quoting a report he said that working of the health sector in the State is poor so far for which the State has been penalised for showing negative performance.
“Our request to the government to do something for the poor mentally retarded girls living in a Jammu ‘HOME’ and better health services for undernourished school children is still hanging in fire,” Chadha maintained.
He also demanded reopening of Chopra Nursing Home in GMC Jammu for the benefit of those who can pay for better health services.
The Forum president further said that the newly under construction building at General Bus Stand should be made a 100 bedded cancer hospital and a large emergency unit with all modern facilities.
His demanded smart healthcare services like telemedicine services etc in GMC Jammu and other hospitals, health centres of the district as a part of smart city project.
