JAMMU, Aug 20: The Curriculum Implementation Support Programme (CISP-2) was organized in Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) & Hospital to train the faculty members for implementation of Competency Based Medical Education for Indian Medical Graduates.
The New Graduate Medical Education Regulation attempts to stand on the shoulder of the contribution and efforts of resource persons, teachers and students. It intends to make a learner to provide healthcare to the evolving need of the society of country.
The new regulations came into force in 2019 has totally revolutionized the medical education programme. According to new regulations, it has become a Competency Based Education with more dependence on practical knowledge leaving the theoretical knowledge behind.
The programme lays more stress on clinical teaching rather than theoretical teaching. The workshop of CISP-2 was conducted under the aegis of Medical Council of India by the Nodal Centre, Christian Medical College, Ludhiana (Punjab), headed by Dr Dinesh Badyal and supported by Dr Anjali Jain.
Thirty faculty members attended this virtual teaching programme and 2 faculty members attended the online programme as per the protocol decided by the Medical Council of India. Dr Rajesh Gupta, Prof & Head Orthopaedics and MEU Coordinator, ASCOMS & Hospital was the convener of the course while as Dr Meeta Gupta, Dr Shalini Sobti, Dr Jyoti Kohli, Dr Ajay Puri, Dr Dipender Kour and Dr Ajay Bhat (Associate Professors) were the resource faculty for the workshop.
The 2-day Academic Programme was inaugurated by Dr Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, ASCOMS & Hospital. During his inaugural address, he said that education is an ongoing process and to become a good teacher a person has to be a lifelong learner.
