CIK conducts raids across Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Aug 8: Counter-intelligence wing of Jammu and Kashmir police today conducted raids in five districts across Kashmir to crack down on suspected terror-related activities, online misuse and alleged radicalisation networks.

An official said that the raids were carried out in Kupwara, Baramulla, Anantnag, Shopian and Bandipora in connection with FIR number 03/2023 registered at Police Station CIK, Srinagar, under Sections 505 and 153-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Sections 13 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

They said electronic devices and other incriminating material were recovered and seized during the searches, which will be sent for forensic examination to further the investigation.

The official said the operations were also linked to other cases being investigated by CIK, involving allegations under the Arms Act, IPC and UAPA.

A team of the officials carried out raid at the residential house of Abrar Nabi Sheikh son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh of Tantraypora Palhallan in Baramulla district. During the raid, one mobile phone Redmi 8pro and Sim card were seized.

They also raided the house of Baber Hameed Dar son of Abdul Hameed Dar of Chankhan Sopore in district Baramulla.

They raided the residential house of Atta Mohammad Qazi son of Ghulam Mohi u Din Qazi of Hiller Shahabad, in Anantnag district.

The CIK also raided the house of Gulzar Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani of Husangpora, Zainpora in district Shopian. Wani's son Usman Gulzar is already in Kotbalwal jail in Jammu in FIR no 104/2022 registered in Police Station Zainpora.
