China asked to divulge information on Interpol chief Meng’s disappearance

PARIS, Oct 7: The International Criminal Political Investigation (Interpol) has officially asked China for information regarding the disappearance of the agency’s President Meng Hongwei on a trip to China.
However, the Chinese government has not said anything publicly yet about Meng’s disappearance.
Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock said, “Interpol has requested through official law enforcement channels clarification from China’s authorities on the status of Interpol President Meng Hongwei”, quoted CNN.
Meng’s wife went to police in Lyon Thursday night to report his disappearance, according to a statement released by the French Interior Ministry.
She told police that she had last heard from him 10 days ago and had recently received threats via social networks and by telephone.
The Chinese local media reports claim that Meng is under investigation in China for unspecified reasons.
