KARGIL, July 2: As a part of the nationwide sports campaign Cheer4India to encourage the Indian athletes taking part in the Tokyo Olympics starting from July 23, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve inaugurated a selfie point at Tourist Facilitation Centre (TFC) Biamathang here today.
The selfie point has been set up by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Centre, Kargil.
The Deputy Commissioner on the occasion said that like rest of the country, under the campaign Cheer4India, we have gathered to extend our support to the Indian athletes who are participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
DC Santosh Sukhadeve expressed hope that our athletes will display exemplary sportsmen spirit in the games and come back with maximum medals for the country.
Pertinent to mention that the Ministry of Sports, Government of India has urged people to come out across the country in support of the athletes who will be competing at the Tokyo Olympics beginning July 23.
Meanwhile, 100 athletes from India have so far qualified for the games, and as per the Sports Ministry 6000 selfie points will be set up in the country for people to show their support.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Kargil Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, President Kargil Olympic Association (KAO) Haji Mirza Hussain, Secretary KAO Syed Mehraj Shah , President Ladakh Sqay Association Zulfikar Kacho, President Ladakh Amateur Boxing Association Shabir Hussain, General Secretary Ladakh Wushu Association Safdar Ali, NIS Coach and In charge SAI Kargil Ghulam Mustafa, NIS Coaches Muhammad Ali and Zahir Abbas, international and national players of the district in Taekwondo, Sqay, Boxing and good number of sports enthusiasts were present on the occasion.
