CEC visits various villages, takes stock of public issues

LEH, Jan 6: On the second day of the Nyoma Sub Division tour, Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo visited Chumoor, Tegazong, Korzok, Sumdho, Angkung, and Thukjay Gonpa villages.
He was accompanied by Executive Councilors Dorjey Mutup, Tsering Wangdus, Tsering Sandup, and Mumtaz Hussain, Councilor Korzok Gyurmet Dorjey, along with Nyoma Sub-Divisional level officers headed by SDM Nyoma Tsering Motup.
CEC Dr Dawa listened to the grievances and demands of the villagers. He assured that priority will be given to the developmental and other important issues of the border villages and far-flung areas of the district. He added that the Council would also need their help and support in achieving this feat.
He informed that they had taken up issues and grievances of Ladakh with the Centre and State level Ministers and they had assured redressal in phased manner. CEC said that they also met Telecom Minister and he assured that a BSNL official will visit Ladakh for a survey so that all the far-flung villages will be provided mobile connectivity.
Talking about the power supply, CEC said that the Alchi power project which supplies electricity upto Chumathang until now will be extended upto Nyoma Sub Division also which will further help connecting nearby villages too. CEC further said that other issues will also be redressed in time phase manner.
At Chumoor and Tega Zong, Dr Dawa and EC A&SH Mumtaz Hussain inaugurated the distribution of cattle feed and barley. Dr Dawa gave directions to CMO Leh for immediate supply of medicines to Nyoma Sub-Division.
Councilor Korzok Gyurmet Dorjey projected some of the demands including water supply scheme, construction of retaining walls and roads at Chumur; installation of mobile towers at Chumur, Tega-Zong, Puga, Samad, and Kharnak, geo-thermal plant at Puga needed to be taken in hand, upgradation of road from Tarla bridge to Chumoor village, construction of road from Raza-Nakpo to Shangdung Chumoor, providing of electricity poles at Angkung, construction of irrigation canals at Chumik Yartsa to Puga, additional infrastructure at Nomadic Residential school Puga, inclusion of Korzok Monastery in the Buddhist Circuit and filling up of vacant posts at PHC/ MAC Korzok constituency.
CEC gave patient hearing to the demands and assured early redressal.
