Leh, Aug 18: Rigzin Spalbar, Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh, and Deldan Namgail, MLA Nobra, called on Governor N.N. Vohra, here today. Sougat Biswas, Deputy Commissioner, Leh and Dr. Sunil Gupta, SSP Leh were present on the occasion.
CEC and MLA Nobra apprised the Governor about the serious difficulties being faced by the people consequent to the flash floods which occurred in Nubra on August 3, 2015. They briefed the Governor about the various relief measures initiated by the LAHDC and demanded immediate release of funds by the Central and the State Governments for relief distribution and for the permanent repair and restoration of seriously damaged infrastructure.
The Governor was informed by the Deputy Commissioner Leh about the rescue and relief operations carried by the administration during the flash floods and the extent of damage suffered, particularly in regard to roads and buildings.
Later, the Governor along with the Deputy Commissioner and other officers visited Tourist Information Centre Leh and saw the various facilities provided there for the facilitation of the tourists.
Padam Shri Awardee Tashi Tondup also met Governor and apprised him about the hardships being faced by the people in Ladakh an account of its remote location and harsh climate.
The Governor has asked the Deputy Commisioner Leh for urgent reports on some of the issues raised by Mr. Tondup.
