Cattle dies, woman injured in mine blast at LoC

POONCH, June 26: A cattle was blown up while an elderly woman and two other cattle were injured when a land mine exploded near the Line of Control (LoC) in Degwar area of district Poonch this evening.
Official sources said that 65-year-old, Makhan Bi, wife  Mohd Sharief, resident of Noorkot (Degwar) was grazing cattle near the fencing along the LoC. Suddenly, some cattle strayed towards  fencing. As she ran after  the cattle to get them back, one of the cattle over stepped a land mine and was blown up and died on the spot. She and two other cattle sustained serious injuries.
Some Army jawans from nearby unit, rushed  to the site and shifted the woman to District Hospital Poonch with multiple splinter injuries on legs and other parts of her body.  The cattle were also provided treatment at nearby Veterinary Hospital.
