Burglars’ gang busted, kingpin arrested with stolen items

JAMMU, Apr 20: Gangyal police busted a burglars’ gang with the arrest of kingpin and recovery of stolen items including gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh.
As per police sources, on April 14 this year, a complaint was lodged by Rajinder Singh, son of Mohan Singh of Lane Number 20, Greater Kailash with Police Station Gangyal stating that on April 12, some unknown person(s) entered into his house and decamped with gold ornaments, when he along with his family members had gone out for some work.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 34/18 under Section 454 and 380 RPC was registered at Gangyal Police Station and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, police rounded up several suspects and finally succeeded in arresting the thief, who happens to be the kingpin of the burglars’ gang.
The arrested person has been identified as Ramandeep Singh alias Mani, son of Amrit Singh, a resident of Saklu, district Poonch.
On his disclosure, stolen items including 6 gold rings, 1 pair ear rings, 1 mangal sutra, 1 laptop and 7 cylinders worth around Rs 2 lakh were recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases and names of his associates.
It is to mention that, on April 3 this year, Gangyal police unearthed burglars gang with the arrest of two persons and recovery of stolen items worth Rs 10 lakh.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali along with Incharge Greater Kailash Police Post SI Vicky Thapa busted the gang under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
