JAMMU, Dec 31: Minister for R&B, Gardens Parks and Floriculture, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has asked PMGSY implementation unit to strictly follow the guidelines of the flagship programme and expedite work on all projects. He asked to speed up land acquisition cases and addressing all other issues including forest clearance and land compensation so that funds allotted for the purpose are utilized in time.
The instructions were given by the Minister at an officer meeting here today, convened to review the progress of the projects taken up under PMGSY in the State.
Commissioner Secretary R&B, Secretary Rural Development, Chief Engineer R&B, Jammu, Chief Engineers of PMGSY, Kashmir and Jammu divisions besides other senior officers were present on the occasion.
The Minister directed both the Chief Engineers to handover all the completed schemes as per the guidelines of the programme to the R&B Department for further maintenance, while Chief Engineer R&B was asked to come up with a proposal for requirement of funds for further up keep of these new roads.
Syed Altaf asked Secretary Rural Development to provide the project details completed by Rural Development Department under the programme so that it is uploaded on official portal of the department.
Regarding land acquisition and forest clearance issues, the Commissioner Secretary said that he will take up the matter with the concerned Deputy Commissioners and Forest Department so that land required for the road projects is acquired early for completing the ongoing projects in time.
The meeting was informed that 1191 schemes have been completed so far under the programme while work is in progress on 722 schemes.
Under phase-X, as many as 596 new schemes have been proposed during current financial year costing Rs. 3615.05 cr for Kashmir division.
