JAMMU, June 8: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), J&K UT Unit has expressed serious concern over the cancellation of the MSc Nursing Entrance Examination conducted by BOPEE due to the reported mismatch of candidates’ data in OMR answer sheets.
In a press statement BSP president for J&K, Darshan Rana stated that such incidents are becoming a matter of grave concern and causing immense hardship, uncertainty, mental agony and financial burden to the students and their families. Thousands of students spend months preparing for competitive examinations with the hope of securing admission on merit. However, repeated administrative lapses and negligence by authorities are undermining the credibility of the entire examination system.
Rana said that in several cases examinations are conducted, results are declared, and thereafter selection lists are stayed by courts due to irregularities and procedural defects. In the present case, the process itself has suffered a major setback at the very outset, forcing cancellation of the examination and causing avoidable distress to candidates.
He questioned how such a serious mismatch in candidates’ photographs, signatures and other data could escape scrutiny before distribution of OMR sheets at examination centres. Such lapses indicate gross negligence and failure of accountability at multiple levels.
The BSP demanded a high-level independent inquiry into the entire episode, identification of all officials, agencies and individuals responsible for the lapse, exemplary disciplinary and legal action against the defaulters, fixation of responsibility to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in future, adoption of foolproof mechanisms for printing, verification and distribution of examination material and adequate compensation of time, effort and inconvenience suffered by the affected candidates.
Rana emphasized that the future of students cannot be allowed to become a casualty of administrative inefficiency. The BOPEE must take corrective measures to restore public confidence.
