BLSKS organises weeklong AIDS awareness campaign

JAMMU, Sept 17: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) organised a weeklong special ‘AIDS Awareness Campaign’ through folk media at RS Pura and Bishnah by staging a musical play “Nai Chetna”, here today.
The three programs were presented at RS Pura which were inaugurated by the chief guest Yash Paul Mangotra, Headmaster GHS Boys Rangpur Maulanian, Ajay Sharma, Principal GHSS Boys RS Pura and Bachan Lal, Panch respectively. The programme was held after attending the Regional Folk Media workshop organized by the National Aids Control Society, GoI at Lucknow by the BLSKS,
The special guests were Rakesh Kumar, Mahabir Singh, Rachana Tomar, Shivani Pathania and Rohit Kumar.
In addition to the awareness programmes and colourful cultural programs consisting of skits/dances/ songs based on various themes were also presented during the event. The items like musical play and songs were especially designed to make the audience aware and short play ‘Nai Chetna’, written by Dr ML Dogra (Chairman BLSKS) was also staged during the event.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries Dr ML Dogra explained that the first symptoms of HIV tend to appear around 2to 4 weeks after a person’s exposure to the virus. However, it can sometimes take months to years for any symptoms to appear. Without treatment, HIV can be life threatening, he said.
The singers, musicians and actors who performed during the play were Raju Bajgal, Nazuk Bhagat, Chahat Chadha, Sudesh Manhas, Ravi Kumar, Rahul Kumar and Deepak Kumar Dogra.
