POONCH, May 22: At least half a dozen members of two families were injured in a bloody clash over drinking water issue in Mendhar area of district Poonch today.
A police official said that over the issue of drinking water, members of two families at Bhera village of Mendhar freely exchanged lathis and other lethal weapons. They also resorted to stone pelting on each other. There is acute scarcity of water in the entire Mendhar Sub Division and at Bhera some people are using motors pumps to extract more water while flow of water in pipes is very less due to leakage and other reasons.
The six members who were injured during clash were shifted to Sub District Hospital, Mendhar. They are identified as Mohd Amin, Mohd Ismail, Mohd Akram, Parveen Akhtar, Zaheer Ahmed and Niaz Hussain, all hailing from Bhera village. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
