Blast kills 10 policemen in Pak’s Karachi

KARACHI, Feb 13: At least 10 policemen were killed and over 30 others injured today in a suspected suicide attack targeting a police bus in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi.
The explosion took place near the gate of Razzaqabad Police Training Center in Shah Latif Town area of the city just as a police bus was leaving the premises.
Evidences indicate that a suicide bomber had rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the police van carrying over 50 personnel who were on their way to discharge their duties at Bilawal House, said Senior Superintendent of Police Malir Rao Anwaar.
However, police is investigating the matter to ascertain the facts.
According to initial details, 10 to 15 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the blast.
The injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital and other local hospitals for medical assistance. Local media reports said that eight of the injured were in critical condition.
Civilians were also injured in the blast.
Rangers and police have reached the blast site, cordoned off the area and started a search operation. (AGENCIES)
