JAMMU, Apr 23: Senior Congress leader and former minister Yogesh Sawhney condemned the BJP for forcing Government employees across Jammu to attend their rally which is to be held on Sunday Palli in Samba.
In a press statement Congress leader alleged that people working in Government schools and various Government departments and sectors were told that they had to spend their Sundays attending a political rally to be held by the BJP. Sawhney stated that the BJP Government has stooped to a new low now, in that it wants now to use Government employees as means to fill their Stadia and increase their number in their rallies. Terming this a shameful act, Sawhney accused the Government of abusing it’s power and forcing people in serving a political purpose for them.
Congress leader claimed that employees from various Government sectors and departments have been informed that they have to reach their offices early in the morning on Sunday and from there they will be stacked into buses to be taken to the venue of the BJP rally. Instead of being allowed to spend their weekend with their family, or give time to their personal matters, employees are being asked to attend a rally. This suggests BJP’s inability to attract crowds and their lack of confidence in themselves.
This is now open truth that BJP’s popularity is on the decline. That is why it is using these petty tricks to ensure at least someone is there to fake cheers and applauds for the BJP leaders when they come to the city.
The former minister reiterated that this shameful act by the party indicates the rise of dictatorial tendencies in our society. Government employees are paid to serve the system, the society and the people, not the party. BJP should not confuse the country with the party. Many Government employees may go to the rally even if they don’t want to out of the fears that their refusal to do so will affect their jobs, he added.
