JAMMU, July 5: BJP Kashmir Displaced District through a resolution today demanded that the atrocities committed on the displaced people from Valley from time to time by the forces inimical to peace, security and sovereignty of the country be put to an end now.
The resolution was passed in the meeting of office bearers of the BJP Displaced District Kashmir held under the chairmanship of its president Chand Ji Bhat here today. The meeting among others was also attended by Surinder Ambardar MLC.
Talking to reporters after the meeting Chand Ji Bhat said through resolution it was also demanded permanent settlement of displaced Pandits in Valley, their political empowerment and the employment to the displaced youth.
He said the resolution was moved by him and it was seconded by Ram Krishan Kaul, Shardanandan Bhat and P L Dhar, general secretary.
Mr Bhat said that the community is very serious and yearning to return to its motherland from where it was thrown out by the enemy agents.
He reiterated the demand that displaced community be settled at a single concentrated place in Valley which should be fully equipped with overall infrastructure, economic avenues, decent accommodation, educational institutions, commercial infrastructure and hospitals etc.
While highlighting the political empowerment Bhat said that it is an instrument for protecting and promoting identity of displaced minority community, adding that statutory provisions to that effect should be institutionalized with representations in Assembly, parliament and local bodies.
He also demanded three seats be reserved in Assembly for Pandits and two in Parliament besides it be given due representation in local bodies.
He regretted that the PM’s 6000 job package announced way back in 2008 has not implemented in letter and spirit and till date only 1800 displaced youth have been absorbed under this scheme. He demanded that the remaining posts be filled up at an earliest. He also demanded special employment package for displaced youth in Central Government departments.
Other demands including compensation for overaged youths, traders, orchardists and damaged properties of the displaced community, removal of encroachments, protection from shrines and temples, security to KP employees working in Valley, and correction in voters lists.
J L Pandita, vice president of the displaced district, S Gurpurab Singh incharge Sikh Samaj, Sweety Koul, icharge Mahila Wing, Bharat Bushan Gosani general secretary were among others present in the press conference.
