JAMMU, June 15: Strongly pleading for fresh delimitation of Assembly constituencies in the State to give Jammu and Ladakh regions their due share in the State Assembly, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will reinforce its demand of ordering fresh delimitation of Assembly Constituencies in the State in tomorrow’s Working Committee. Besides, the party will stress on de-freezing of 1/3rd of 24 reserved seats for PoJK and allotting them to Jammu region.
A resolution to this effect will be tabled in the Working Committee here tomorrow. The fresh delimitation of Assembly Constituencies in the State which forms the part of BJP’s political resolution which was read by party general secretary, Dr Narinder Singh in its office bearers meeting at Party Headquarters this afternoon also took the previous National Conference (NC) Governments to task for gross injustice to the Jammu and Ladakh regions so far as delimitation of Assembly Constituencies is concerned.
The two -day party Working Committee meet which started here this evening with office bearers meeting was chaired by party State president, Ravinder Raina.
The draft resolution of the party the copy of which is in the possession of Excelsior said injustice has been done by successive NC governments with Jammu and Ladakh regions through inequitable delimitation of assembly constituencies as the party favoured Kashmir region only. It reinforced the party’s demand of ordering fresh delimitation and further demanded de-freezing of 1/3rd of 24 reserved seats for PoJK and allotting them to Jammu region where PoJK refugees are settled since 1947 and 48.
To further strengthen its base in the State, the BJP through its political resolution will also strongly press for the political reservation for the Tribal people as well.
Eying the coming Assembly elections in the State the political resolution resolved to carry forward the momentum of the recent Parliamentary elections in which party won three seats from Jammu and Ladakh regions and work tirelessly to form the next Government in the State on its own.
Earlier before the start of office bearers meeting, BJP national vice president and Prabhari &K, Avinash Rai Khanna while talking to reporters exuded confidence that J&K will have BJP Chief Minister after the Assembly elections and party will cross the 44+ mark.
He said on the basis of party’s performance in recently held Parliamentary elections in which BJP took a huge lead over 25 Assembly segments in Jammu region, one Assembly segment of Tral in Pulwama district and three Assembly segments of Ladakh, Party is confident to sweep the next Assembly poll and have its own Chief Minister in the State.
He said People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been rejected by the people in Kashmir while the Congress is on crutches and despite the formation of Maha Gathbandhan its candidate lost with huge margin of votes in Jammu region. Even in Ladakh where BJP candidate won the Lok Sabha seat by 36 votes in 2014 elections, party won this time by 12,000 votes.
This has generated a hope among the party cadre to form the next Government in the State, he added.
Maintaining that BJP has not changed its stand on 35A and abrogation of Article 370 giving special status to J&K , Khanna said BJP is committed to end the discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh regions and delimitation of Assembly segments is also an issue for us and the party has resolved to end the discrimination which the other two regions of the State are facing.
Detailing about the tomorrow’s Working Committee meeting which preceded by office bearers meeting today, he said these issues will figure in the WC tomorrow also. Khanna said two days National Working Committee was held in New Delhi yesterday and decisions taken there will also be discussed in tomorrow’s meeting and members will be apprised of the same.
He said party leader Jugal Dogra has been made incharge of membership in J&K as the party at National level has fixed a target to increase 20 percent membership all over the country this time. He said former CM of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been made incharge of membership at national level.
He said besides, the prevailing political scenario in the State will also figure in tomorrow’s meeting. Khanna said the people of the State have many expectations from the party and the working Committee will also discuss that what steps are needed to fulfill people’s expectations.
Maintaining that BJP is a cadre based party, Khanna said it is rooted up to booth level in every part of the country and party will try its best to come to the expectations of the people.
