JAMMU, July 14: To make aware and educate the Morcha activists about the pro-women programmes and policies of the NDA at the Centre and BJP Coalition in J&K, State BJP Mahila Morcha  organized meetings at R.S. Pura and Jammu, wherein BJP State president & MLA Sat Sharma (C.A.), Mahila Morcha National vice-president & J&K Prabari  Asha Jaswal and  State President Purnima Sharma spoke in details on various welfare schemes, particularly Prime Minister Ujwala Yojana (PMUY).
Sat Sharma, in his address said that NDA Government led by PM Narendra Modi has initiated some landmark welfare schemes especially for the poor, needy and rural based womenfolk. “The NDA Government is fully cognizant of the importance of upliftment and advancement of women in the society. The NDA Government has launched “Beti Bachao Beti Padao” scheme to ensure that the historically retrograde perception prevalent in the society that a daughter was a burden on the family, is getting changed and she is treated as an asset for the family on equal pedestal with a son. In Jammu & Kashmir also, our State coalition has launched “Ladli Beti” scheme which reflects the enlightened thinking of BJP, which want daughters being cherished by parents as they had been historically cherishing the birth of sons and the girls are no longer subject of historical bias,” he said.
Asha Jaiswal, in her address, spoke about the objective and benefits of the PMUJ and said that time has come when old regressive attitudes and mindset about female folk have to be abandoned if India has to progress and prosper. She said that the scheme will bring change in the lives of women, who had been facing problems while using the traditional Indian Chullah, which give smoke and causes health problems. She said that the women activists have to fan out in their respective areas and educate the people especially the women about the schemes launched by NDA Government for the benefit of womenfolk.
Purnima Sharma, while explaining the detailed formalities to obtain a gas connection under PMUY, said that it has been for the first time in post independent India that a Government has displayed its commitment towards the social and economic upliftment of the women, and the need of the day is to reach each and every area to meet the women and help them in availing the benefits of the such schemes which are exclusively meant for them.
Chandigarh BJP Mahila Morcha president Sunita Dewan, J&K BJP Senior leader  Suresh Jamwal, MLA R S Pura Dr Gagan Bhagat and the entire State team of Mahila Morcha also attended both the meetings.
