JAMMU, Dec 6: PCC vice president and former minister Raman Bhalla today said that BJP deprived people of their basic rights amidst crisis in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing election meeting in favour of DDC candidate Romesh Motton at Dablehar near RS Pura today Bhalla said that Congress is contesting District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir to fight against the “unconstitutional” policies of the BJP through the power of the ballot which has left the people of Jammu and Kashmir unhappy.
Bhalla who was accompanied by former minister Ch Gharu Ram and others said that BJP had vowed to finish the identity of Jammu and Kashmir through “unconstitutional and undemocratic” introduction of new land laws and bifurcation of the erstwhile State into Union Territories, the Congress leader alleged. He appealed to the people to vote in favour of Congress candidates in ongoing DDC elections and said, people of Jammu and Kashmir are politically mature enough and this time they will not waste their vote to those who have failed on all fronts.
He said Congress is fighting the wrong policies of the BJP at the national level. Stating that the ongoing DDC elections in J&K were the best opportunity to again initiate the process of development at grass- roots level, he said and laid emphasizes over electing the honest and hardworking candidates in these elections to ensure that there was no more exploitation in the name of development  in J&K.  He said BJP has no moral right to seek votes in DDC elections as it had done incalculable injustice to people of J&K in all fields.
Former minister maintained that people of J&K have been pushed to wall in the name of development by the BJP, working to implement its political agenda, which is divisive and anti-people, responsible for the crisis and restlessness is J&K and across the country,” Bhalla said. He said Congress is credited of gifting three tyre Panchayat system to the Nation, aiming to involve people in the process of their own development at grass roots level,” he said and blamed the BJP Govt for harming the very foundation of the Panchayati Raj system by eroding their authorities to serve their vested interests.
He urged the electorates to defeat the political exploitation and opportunism in the ongoing DDC elections and support Congress Party.
