JAMMU, Dec 25: Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch Vikram Randhawa, today said that Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is committed for all round development of Gandhi Nagar Constituency.
He said this while interacting with people during an extensive tour to the neglected areas of Gandhi Nagar assembly segment, where he took stock of the problems being faced by the people.
Randhawa visited Shanti Nagar and New Shanti Nagar where he assessed the problems being faced by the people. The locals of the area apprised the MLC about the lack of basic amenities like supply of drinking water, poor sanitation and deteriorated condition of lanes and drains of the area.
“Being major part of the constituency, these areas has been neglected by the previous Congress MLA who remained minister twice during his two consecutive terms,” said the MLC, adding Gandhi Nagar would be developed as ‘Model Constituency’ and all the neglected areas will be developed on priority. He said that ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’ is the slogan of the BJP which is being implemented in letter and spirit on ground.
Randhawa assured people that the development will be delivered at the doorsteps of the people and all the developmental works of the area would be carried out in phased manner.
Meanwhile, Randhawa during his visit to the Azad Nagar near Chatha kick-started the work of the lane and drain which would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 7 lakh. The funds for the construction of lane and drain have been provided by the MLC out of his CDF.
Speaking on the occasion, Randhawa said that the construction of lane and drain would connect Govindpura and Azad Nagar and it would reduce the distance of around five kilometers. He said that it was the long pending demand of the people of the area and has been fulfilled.
