JAMMU, Dec 23: 129th Birth anniversary of late Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan, one of the architects of J&K’s accession with India, was celebrated today with solemnity here at Mehr Chand Park, Gandhi Nagar.
Mehr Chand Mahajan was the third Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India. Prior to that he was the Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir during the reign of Maharaja Hari Singh and played a key role in the accession of J&K with India.
After paying floral tributes at the statue of Mehr Chand Mahajan in the Park, a pooja ceremony and havan were organized by the Mahajan Sabha Gandhi Nagar in his memory.
Among those present on the occasion included Jugal Mahajan, Jagdish Vaid, PC Gupta, NK Gupta, Ravi Rohmetra, Ramesh Rohmetra, Dr RK Gupta and Raman Mahajan. Sweets were distributed on the occasion.
