Bhalla lays foundation of causeway, approach road

JAMMU, May 12: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today laid foundation stone of 50-meter vented causeway over Balol nallah and approach road at Rohi village. The projects would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.50 crore.
Addressing a large gathering after laying the foundation, the Minister said with the completion of vented causeway, areas like Shergarh, Dharap, Lower Gaddigarh, Khwaskah and Babliana would get a reliable road connectivity. He asked the executing agency to complete the projects within set time frame by using quality material so that the people of these villages would get relief from covering long distances to reach their native villages.
Taking serious note of the poor quality and delay in construction of culverts over Irrigation Channel at Dharap village, the Minister asked the accompanying R&B Department Executive Engineer to cancel allotment of work to the contractor and engage new contractor to ensure timely completion of the works, adding that due to stoppage of work, the people of the area are badly suffering.
Listing the measures taken by the Government in upgrading the basic facilities in the areas, the Minister said Government has earmarked Rs. 23.50 lakh for construction of 50 meter long link road and 150 meter lanes and drains at Rohi village near Kanshipuri Ashram. He said the work on the projects is going on war-footing and would be completed within prescribed time frame.
Mr. Bhalla assured the people that all their genuine demands and development needs would be fulfilled in a phased manner, adding that there is no constraint of funds in providing adequate basic amenities to the people of three regions.
Responding to the demand of locals, the Minister asked the accompanied Executive Eng- ineer to prepare the estimates for modernisation of dilapidated condition link road, left out lanes and drains of Dharap and Rohi villages and submit the same for funding.
For providing improved power supply in the peripheries of Rohi village, Mr. Bhalla asked the PDD to install atleast 10 poles including 250 KVA transformer so that the residents could get relief from far-off power connections.
At Nai Basti, Ward No. 23, the Minister kick started construction work of lane and drain, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 4.80 lakh.
