RAJOURI, Nov 20: The six-day long strike of Engineering students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) turned into hunger strike today after College administration rejected their proposed demands.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the students have been protesting since Thursday against the varsity administration’s failure to meet their long pending demands regarding placement of pass-out students, holding supplementary examinations and transparency in examination system.
The students completely boycotted their classes and kept protesting all these days but no one from administration side came forward to talk with the protesting students.
Two separate meetings were held today between students’ council members and administration of Engineering College but no positive result came out.
The protesting students blocked the road till late evening when varsity administration intervened. All the vehicular movement and commercial activities were disrupted in the campus throughout the day. Finally, Registrar of the University called upon a meeting with the students’ council members, which lasted for over three hours, but no favourable decision came out of it, after which the aggrieved students decided to continue their hunger strike till their demands are fully accepted.
