Bengal: Gold worth around Rs 3 cr seized at Indo-Bangla border

BANGAON (WB), May 26: Gold worth around Rs 3 crore was seized along the international border in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district while being smuggled from Bangladesh, BSF said on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at the Petrapole border seized 36 gold biscuits weighing a total of 4.8 kg from an empty truck coming from the neighbouring country.

The gold was hidden in the driver’s cabin, a BSF official said, adding that the driver, identified as Pradeep Roy Chowdhury of Matiganj area of North 24 Parganas district, was arrested. PTI
