BBIA urges Govt to issue notification for power amnesty

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 31: A meeting of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) was held under the chairmanship of president  Lalit Mahajan to discuss the issue in respect of non issuance of notification for power amnesty for industrial sector of J&K as announced and approved by the State Assembly in the Budget of 2018-19.
During the course of discussions,  members present in the meeting raised their serious concern in respect of non issuance of requisite notification by the Finance Department/Power Development Department  in respect of Budget Proposal at point number 112,113 & 114 duly approved by the State Assembly to provide relief to the industrial sector by waiving off interest and penalty on all the power arrears owned to the Government by industrial units to provide relief to the working/closed and sick units to overcome the distress and abnormal conditions in the State.
They pointed out that Finance Department has already issued the notification in respect of waiver of penalty and interest under the VAT and General Sales Tax Act whereas the notification in respect of power amnesty is not yet issued by the concerned department.
The BBIA appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh,   Finance Minister Syed Mohd Altaf Bukhari and Chander Parkash, Industries & Commerce Minister to intervene into the matter for the issuance of necessary notification in respect of power amnesty to the industrial units of the State which will provide relief to the working/closed and sick units of the State.
The meeting was attended by Suresh Mahajan, Varun Singla, Ajay Langer, Vivek Singhal and Viraaj Malhotra and other members.
