JAMMU, Apr 8: Bari Brahmana Industries Association has appealed Lt Governor G C Murmu to provide immediate relief to the Industrial Sector of the J&K Union Territory with the deferment of the Power supply bills and waive off the minimum charges/demand charges to closed as well as working units manufacturing essential commodities and their supply chain including packaging materials due to imposition of ongoing lockdown since March 24.
“We draw the kind attention of Lt Governor towards the non working of majority of the units, not covered under the essential commodities due to lockdown since 24th of March 2020, resulting it is very difficult for the unit holders to pay the Power supply bills as their units are closed, non receipt of payments from the suppliers for the sale of materials in the month of February and March 2020 and other related financial constrains,” BBIA said in the appeal.
The BBIA also drew attention towards the fact that majority of the others State Governments have already announced relief to the Industrial Sector with the deferment of Power supply bills, waive off the demand charges for the month of March and April 2020 or till the lockdown.
“We request your good self to kindly provide immediate relief to the ailing Industrial Sector of the State and announce the remedial measures , including extension the date for the payment of Power supply bills for the month of Feb 2020 and exempt the Industrial Units from the payment of Minimum Charges and fixed Demand charges for the closed units as well as to the units working with minimum capacity for the manufacturing of essential commodities and supply chains including packing materials from the period of 25th March 2020 till the lockdown period,” said Lalit Mahajan, President of BBIA.
