JAMMU, June 16: Representatives of various bazaar associations of Jammu today met president, Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF), Jammu province, Neeraj Anand, in his office chamber and discussed their grievances.
The grievances of the trade association were mostly related to parking and penalizing action being taken by administration despite knowing about the acute economic stress facing the business community.
Pooja Kapoor, president, Residency Road Traders’ Association, said that the administration should be more sensitive in dealing with issues directly related to livelihood of people especially during pandemic.
Rajesh Diwan, president, Hari Market Traders’ Association, said that they are also facing parking issue. “Till the time alternative parking site is ready, no action should be taken. Already there is dearth of business activity and such administrative actions further dampen the trade spirit,” he added.
Deep Singh, president, Moti Bazaar Traders, raised the issue of dilapilated roads and parking of vehicles.
The meeting was held while maintaining social distancing. Other issues like GST, delay in market recoveries, Government support in reviving economic activities were also deliberated upon and it was resolved that all trade bodies will support each other in overcoming the challenges posed by COVID-19 by being vocal for local.
President CTF, while concluding the meet said, “Earlier also, CTF had arranged a meet with Divisional Commissioner amidst presence of IGP, SSP and other senior officers, but apparently desired results have not been yielded despite clear cut understanding of the issues. Some young officers are still not showing the sensitivity expected of them while dealing with business community.”
We will once again raise the issue with LG Office, he said and hoped that a working solution would be evolved. He appealed all trade heads to remain positive and adopt a rational approach based on logic while dealing with administration.
