Sir,
This has reference to the Sunday Magazine article ‘Road to Death’ DE May 25.
The author has highlighted the painful tale of Batote-Doda road passengers. This road remains in news almost throughout the year but for wrong reasons. One does not know how many passengers lose their lives on this route? People have been crying hoarse that this road be given special attention to avert tragic accidents, but no one seems to be interested to tackle this situation.
The hue and cry raised by people over an accident lasts a few days only to subside the very moment political leaders express their shock and anguish over the loss of precious lives. After taking some cosmetic measures, the Government leaves the matter as it. And the life goes on as usual.
There is urgent need to chalk out a concrete action plan to settle this matter for ever. The Government should frame a body of experts who can suggest remedial measures to make this road safe for passengers.
Yours etc…
