Bar takes out candle march in protest against police

JAMMU, May 3: J&K High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA) held a protest dharna in District Courts Complex Janipur and took out a candle march.
The candle march started from Panjthirthi Chowk and after passing through Upper Bazar, Chowk Chabutra, Pacca Danga, Parade, Purani Mandi, Super Bazar Market, City Chowk, Raghunath Bazar, Gumat, Hari Market and Jewel Chowk culminated at Press Club.
A large number of lawyers and general public participated in this candle march, raising anti police slogans, demanding suspension of SHO Gandhi Nagar Arun Jamwal.
While interacting with media persons MK Bhardwaj, President, JKHCBA said that irrespective of political affiliation, representatives of various political, social and trade organizations have condemned the action of the police and extended support to the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu in its demand for suspension of erring officials who had misbehaved, illegally detained and tortured Advocate Harshwardhan Gupta.
He reiterated that people of Jammu province will observe complete bandh on Monday on the call given by JKHCBA.
