Bank employees take out rally

JAMMU, July 19: Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation on the occasion of Bank Nationalization Day, organized a mass rally here today.
The members belonging to various banks of affiliates jointly with officers took out a mass rally from Shalamar Chowk, which concluded at City Chowk.
Holding banners in their hands and raising slogans against the Government, they were demanding the Government to make Banking a fundamental right of people. They also demanded to stop anti-people reforms of the Government. They also raised slogans in favor of strengthening the public sector banking.
The rally was addressed by various leaders of Bank employees who exposed the Government’s policies of diluting the public sector banks. The speakers highlighted the pioneering role of Bank Employees in facilitating the Nationalization of banks. They alleged that the Government under the pretext of liberalization and new economy system is bent on liquidating this vital sector of the economy.
Arun Kumar Gupta, general secretary of the Federation, in his address attacked the present licensing policy of the Government, which seeks to make bank industry an extension of Corporate sector. He re-iterated his organization’s resolve to oppose all attempts of privatization and liberalization all over the Country.
The rally was also addressed by Ashwani Pradhan, who on behalf of the Officer’s fraternity pledged his full support to any struggle or action that may be called for in future. He also pointed out that the management attitude with regard to wage revision will have to be fought seriously.
Vijay Zutshi, Ganesh Kumar, RK Bamba, Manjeet Singh, Sumritra Kher, TK Tikoo,and many other also spoke on the occasion.
