Bail denied in bovine smuggling case

JAMMU, Feb 7: CJM Jammu Amarjeet Singh Langeh has rejected the bail application of one Mustaq Choudhary, who was arrested by the police in a case of bovine smuggling on fake documents.
After hearing APP Kuldeep Bhat for the police whereas Advocate Anayat Ullah for the applicant, the CJM observed, “the manner in which fake permission for transportation of bovine animals is alleged to have been produced before police and resources that might have been utilized in procuring fake stamps of Additional District Magistrate, Jammu, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Jammu, Mobile Officer, Jammu only describes the level of impunity with which offences in question have prima facie been committed by petitioner”.
“Names of two more characters have surfaced during investigation, who are also allegedly involved in the commission of offences in question. They are yet to be rounded up. That petitioner is not co-operating in investigation is yet another issue highlighted by Investigating Officer. In these circumstances, grant of bail to petitioner on facts, would not only be against the interest of public at large but shall also embolden petitioner to take law for a ride and that too with impunity”, CJM said.
