Badant Anand Kausalyayan remembered on 115th birth anniversary

NAGPUR, Jan 13: Badant Anand Kausalyayan, the maker of Buddhist literature in Hindi and a close associate of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution, was remembered on his 115th birth anniversary.
In this connection, an impressive function was held today in Nagpur wherein Dr Nitin Raut, Energy Minister of Maharashtra State, was the chief guest while Badant Satyashel Mehathera presided over the function.
Buddhist academician hailing from different parts of the country and Buddhist monks from Sri Lanka addressed the gathering and shed light on the contributions of Kausalyayan to the humanity. The minister said that Badant Anand Kausalyayan, besides being a Buddhist scholar, was a social reformer.
Nawang Tsering Shakspo, Director, Centre for Research on Ladakh and historian from Ladakh, recalled the days of his meeting Badant Anand Kausalyayan on several occasion and said that Badant was an eloquent speaker and commentator on Tripitaka, the Buddhist canon.
On the occasion, unveiling and enshrinement of 28 newly brought statues of Lord Buddha from Sri Lanka were also performed at Budhbhumi Mahavihar.
