NEW DELHI, Aug 30: Axis Bank, the country’s third largest private bank, today announced the launch of ‘Krishi Pragatishaala’ campaign, an agri expert programme to inform and create awareness amongst the farmers on various new farming techniques.
The campaign aims to cover over 100 agriculture-dominated villages in Haryana and Punjab in a period of 30 days. The campaign, primarily conceptualised around an Agri Expert programme, educates farmers on soil testing, land tillage, usage of hybrid seeds, irrigation methods, use of urea and minerals and other latest information on research in the field of agriculture.
Axis Bank has also opened 26 new branches so far in unbanked and under banked tier V & VI centres in Haryana and Punjab.
A Bank release here said the launch of these branches is a part of Axis Bank’s initiative in extending its foot print in Tier V and VI centres with a population of around 2,000 to 5,000.
The Bank is aiming at achieving the twin objectives of tapping rural and unbanked potential as well as bringing technology driven banking services to the hinterland, especially in under banked districts and states.
Axis Bank offers a complete bouquet of financial products to rural consumers comprising not just deposits, but loans for framers, insurance and investment products as well.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr M V Subramanian, President-Rural & Inclusive banking, Axis Bank said, ‘Axis Bank continues to educate consumers on how financial products can aid them to prosper and grow. The expert advice offered through this initiative would provide the elements of security, convenience and access to new farming techniques in a cost effective manner and serve as a catalyst in the overall development of socio-economic conditions of the unbanked population.’
