Awareness camp-cum-workshop held to highlight incentives provided to services sector

JAMMU, June 19: Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Jammu and District Industries Centre, Jammu organized an awareness camp-cum-workshop here today to highlight various incentives being provided to services sector under the newly launched Industrial Development Scheme 2017 by DIPP, Government of India.
The camp was held under the supervision of Anoo Malhotra, Director, Industries and Commerce, Jammu and Namrita Dogra, General Manager, DIC, Jammu.
Other participants who attended the workshop were Amrik Singh, President, Jammu Association of Tour Operator, Kuldip Wahi, President, Hotel, Bar and Restaurant of Jammu, Rakesh Wazir of Hotel Association, Indra Thakur, Project Manager DIC Jammu and Arshad Noomani, Functional Manager DIC Jammu.
The workshop was organized with a basic aim to make aware the stake holders the various incentives available to them under the IDs scheme apart from the modalities required for availing these benefits. With the extension of benefits available under the centrally sponsored scheme of GoI to the service sector under IDS-2017, the Service Sector can avail incentives under 30 per cent Capital Investment Subsidy, 3 per cent interest subsidy, 100 per cent insurance subsidy, freight subsidy, income tax and GST reimbursement, besides the incentives available under the State package under Industrial Policy 2016. Under the new scheme, all the service sector stake holder dealing in the hotels, adventure tourism, education, gymnasium etc. irrespective of their location shall be covered.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Industries and Commerce, Jammu Anoo Malhotra highlighted the benefits available under IDS 2017 and State Industrial Policy 2016 and the role of Industries and Commerce Department in implementing these schemes. She asked the stakeholders to get themselves registered under IDS-2017 to make themselves edible for incentives as the sector is an important contributor in state economy as a service sector and as an employment generator.
She also conveyed that the Department is in the process of finalizing the guidelines for service sector and sought the suggestions of stakeholders in preparing a comprehensive set of guidelines addressing all the issues concerning them.
Malhotra directed her officers to organize more such awareness camps for the other sectors like health and education which have also been included as a service sector industry under the new guidelines of IDS-2017.
Speaking on the occasion, Namrita Dogra, GM DIC, Jammu, deliberated on the different issues related to IDS Scheme, 2017 and welcomed entrepreneurs and hoteliers.
The Members of the Association/stake holders requested the Directorate of Industries and Commerce Jammu to hold such workshops frequently in order to get the maximum benefits out of the same.
Director of Industries and Commerce Jammu Anoo Malhotra has organized yoga sessions for the employees of the department. The session will culminate with the celebration of International Yoga Day on 21-06-19.
The Yoga sessions are being held under the supervision of Yoga trainer Sandeep Suri.
Among those who are attending the Yoga sessions regularly are Trishala Kumari Joint Director (M&P) I&C Jammu, Sandesh Kumar Sharma Joint Director (Dev) I&C Jammu, Pawan Goswami, Functional Manager, Mohinder Kumar Sharma Assistant Director, officers and officials of Directorate of Industries and Commerce Jammu.
