"As far as the intentions of the impure neighbours are concerned, in an attempt to make them unsuccessful, the counter-terrorist operations that we conduct in your jurisdiction, the month of September has been a month of great joy for us and a month of many operational achievements," he said.

Prabhat said that over 4,000 people involved in the drug trafficking have been arrested in Jammu and Kashmir as part of the drug free campaign launched in April this year.

The police chief said police have registered 3,257 cases under the NDPS Act since April 11 when Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched the campaign from Jammu.

"Around 4,000 individuals have been arrested and 170 convictions have been secured," Prabhat said, adding that more than 2,500 cases have already been disposed off.

He said that in terms of property attachments, Jammu and Kashmir currently ranks number one across India, with 288 properties attached.

"The value of the attached properties is to the tune of Rs 138 crore while Rs 80 lakh cash was also seized," he added.

The DGP said 144 accused persons have been booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act (PIT-NDPS), the highest number in any state or union territory of the country.

"Police continuously works to foil the nefarious designs of our hostile neighbour through counter-terror operations. The month of September has been a time of immense pride, marked by numerous operational achievements. In addition to counter-terror operations, we have made strong progress in crime prevention, criminal detection, and maintaining law and order," he said.

Prabhat said apart from counterterrorist operations, the police were involved in prevention and detection of crime, maintenance of law and order and the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. "J&K Police is a part of it. The J&K Armed Police also plays a big role in it," he added.

"During the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, 19 mountain rescue teams of the J&K Armed Police were deployed, and they did a very good job," he said.

The DGP also recalled the incident in Gulmarg when tourists were stranded after a problem with the Gandola. "When there was a drought in Gandola, and many tourists were stuck there, to rescue all those tourists, from the police station to the J&K Police mountain rescue teams, our SDRF teams participated," he said.

"And in record time, sir, such a rescue took place, in which the rescue was in the air, not on the ground. I would like to congratulate the J&K Armed Police and their mountain rescuing team," he said.

Prabhat said two peaks had also been scaled by the police teams, one being Gangyatsi in Ladakh and the other Kolahoi in Anantnag. "There are two peaks now. One is in Ladakh, Gangyatsi. They reached the peak there. In the same way, in Anantnag, Kolahoi, they also won there," he said.

He also referred to the Asian Championship held in Vietnam, saying the J&K Police had won a medal in Pencak Salat, while its performance in the All India Police Tournament this year had also been very close.

"Once again, I would like to congratulate the ADG Armed Police and their team. Because of you, the contact of the J&K Police with the youth is getting closer day by day," he added.
