Srinagar, Sept 29: The Legislative Assembly on Wednesday will discuss the acute shortage and non-availability of essential construction material across Jammu and Kashmir.
Fifteen members, including those from the National Conference, Congress, BJP and other parties, are scheduled to participate in the discussion.
The MLA Hasnain Masoodi will make a brief statement on the House Committee that probed alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
As per the calendar issued earlier, Wednesday will also be the last day of the autumn session, which began on September 21.
The House will also witness the laying of two Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
These include the CAG's Composite Audit Report-Civil and Public Sector Enterprises for the period ended March 2023 and the Composite Audit Report-Civil for the period ended March 2024.
The Assembly's business for September 30 includes 10 Calling Attention Notices on issues ranging from drinking water shortages to flash-flood damage, EWS certificates, fruit crop losses and public infrastructure.
Three notices relate specifically to drinking water shortages.
Members will raise the non-functioning of filtration plants and shortage of water tankers in Batote and Ramban, acute water scarcity in several areas of Banihal, and the non-availability of drinking water facilities in parts of Pahalgam constituency.
Other matters listed for attention include alleged discrimination in the issuance of EWS certificates in Kashmir, recent flash floods in Beerwah and compensation for affected people, premature fruit fall in Zainapora orchards, delay in providing timber assistance to fire-affected families in Langate, and inadequate funds for the restoration of flood-damaged water supply schemes and irrigation khuls in Dhar Mahanpur.
The House will also take up the declaration of the old Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar building in Jammu as unsafe and the need for its demolition and replacement, besides the inordinate delay in executing a 13-km water supply pipeline project under AMRUT 2.0 for 13 wards of the Municipal Committee Budgam.
