JAMMU, Jan 29: The State Assembly was adjourned for 10 minutes this evening during the debate on grants for want of quorum by Speaker State Assembly Kavinder Gupta.
Soon after the Tourism Minister, Tassaduq Mufti finished his speech on grants of his Ministry and the Speaker asked Social Welfare Minister, Sajjad Gani Lone to table the grants of his Ministry maximum members left the House.
The NC’s Mian Altaf was the second speaker to speak on the grants of Social Welfare Ministry. As Altaf was speaking on grants, Speaker stood up and announced the adjournment of the House due to lack of quorum.
However some ruling party members insisted that the quorum is there but when they tried to count the number was less than 23 so Speaker ordered the adjournment of the House for 10 minutes at 6 pm.
Some coalition members and ministers who had left the House after the Tourism Minister had finished his speech entered the House but by then the Speaker has adjourned the House for 10 minutes.
