KATRA, June 27: Director Sports Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra, Ashok Kumar declared open the Inter-Sectoral Badminton Tournament of SMVDSB staff in an impressive and well attended function, here today.
The Tournament is being conducted under the chairmanship of Dr Mandeep K Bhandari, Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB.
In badminton singles, Vipan Sharma defeated Sanjeev Mangotra by two sets to nil with set scores (21-16, 21-15).
In the first semifinal of the doubles event, the duo of Sunit Kumar and Ved Parkash defeated the pair of Sanjay and Neeraj Katoch by (2-0) sets by (21-18,21-13).
In another semifinal match of the doubles event, Vipan and Joginder Singh Langeh got better of Sumit and Vinod by (2-0) sets with the set scores (21-11, 21-09).
Earlier, the pair of Sunit Kumar and Ved Parkash prevailed over the duo of Sanjeev Mangotra and Dinesh Nanda by two sets to one (2-1) in a tough contest with the set scores (16-21, 21-17, 21-11).
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts including Vikram Singh, Vikram Jamwal, Dhanraj Slathia and Amit Sharma.
