JAMMU, Sept 29: MLA Jammu West Arvind Gupta raised a series of pressing public issues during the ongoing autumn session of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, putting a strong focus on healthcare infrastructure, availability of medical staff, land and revenue matters, and civic representation.
Gupta raised important concerns regarding Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, particularly the availability of dedicated Emergency Wards 1 and 2 and the presence of senior doctors after 5 PM, stressing the need to ensure timely and quality treatment for patients requiring emergency care.
Giving priority to strengthening healthcare infrastructure, Gupta sought dedicated funding and additional staff for Bone & Joint Hospital, Jammu. He also demanded a separate budget and dedicated manpower for the State Cancer Hospital to improve specialised cancer treatment facilities.
He further highlighted the need for proper infrastructure, essential facilities and adequate staffing at the New Born Ward of SMGS Hospital, stressing that newborn patients require specialised care and sufficient medical manpower.
Raising issues concerning land administration, Gupta sought clarity and a time-bound, transparent inquiry into reported restrictions on land transactions, registration and revenue mutations involving Khasra Nos. 15, 32, 466, 712, 725, 736, 745 and 746 in Gol Niabat/Patwar Halqa Gol, Jammu West.
He also highlighted the issue of Ward No. 32, pointing out that its population has crossed 40,000. He called for consideration of dividing the ward into two to three wards during delimitation, with the objective of improving public representation and ensuring more effective delivery of civic services.
