SRINAGAR, Apr 28: In an effort to reach out to the public and extend a helping hand to the residents, Army today said that a health mela was organized at Zangam village of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A defence spokesman said the health mela was conducted to make available essential medical services and specialists opinion to the local population. “Team of specialist doctors from army and District Administration including lady gynaecologist, medical specialist, dentist, Unani doctor and homeopathy doctors treated 1823 patients and provided free medication,” he said.
The spokesman said that a number of NGOs working in the fields of health and child development also participated in this Health Mela. “Health record cards were given to each and every patient who registered for the camp so that necessary follow up treatment could be made.
“The camp was a reassurance of unflinching faith and bonding between army and people. This initiative of Army has provided a sigh of relief to local populace and on this special occasion, Army presented 20 wheel chairs to the special children from Pattan,” he added.
