BHADERWAH, Nov 22: A 10 days’ long “Hiking & Trekking Expedition”, organised by 4th Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in collaboration with Directorate of Physical Education University of Jammu (JU), commenced from Bhaderwah Campus, here today.
2IC 4th Rashtriya Rifles Maj Banu Chander and Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Sports flagged off the expedition. The trekking camp will conclude at Jai Bharderwah.
Vice Chancellor University of Jammu Prof Manoj K Dhar in his message has appreciated and advised the participants to enjoy the trekking by maintaining the discipline and following the guidelines issued by the Government about COVID-19 pandemic.
Major, Chander appreciated the efforts of the University of Jammu especially Directorate of Sports and Physical Education University of Jammu headed by Dr Daud Iqbal Baba for organising the expedition at this moment, when all the activities are stalled due to the COVID-19. He said that such kinds of events help youths to keep themselves away from anti-social activities.
The Director apprised about the route and 10 days programme of the Hiking &Trekking expedition. He also thanked Prof Rahul Gupta, Rector Bhaderwah Campus for providing all the help to make this event successful.
He further informed that the contingent consists of 40 students from the University of Jammu, Bhaderwah Campus, GDC Bhaderwah, GDC Kilotran, GDC Kotranka, GDC Ramnagar, GDC R.S Pura, GDC Thannamandi, GDC Kalakot, GDC Bishnah, GDC Kathua, GDC Reasi and GDC Mishriwala.
The Rashtriya Rifles also distributed snow goggles and trekking ropes among the participating students.
The officials present on the occasion were Adjutent 4RR, Arif Khateeb ERO Bhaderwah Campus, Ravish Vaid, Jai Bharat, Micheal Singh, Sanjeev Sharma, Arshad Baba and Sumit Sharma.
