Srinagar, Aug 25: A soldier was injured in an encounter with the infiltrating militants in Tanghdar sector on Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district today.
A defence spokesman said that Army this morning foiled an infiltration attempt by militants in North Kashmir’s Tanghdar sector. He said that the militants were challenged and they fired at the Army leading to a gun battle in which one Army jawan was injured and the militants fled back. He said that the jawan was evacuated to Srinagar for treatment.
Sources said that gun battle broke out at Lower Sultan Post at Tanghdar in which one soldier of 6 Gharwal Army sustained injuries and he was removed to hospital.
Army has launched a massive search operation in the area to ensure that no militant is hiding there. Sources said that it was a group of 5-6 militants that attempted infiltration into Tanghdar sector.
