JAMMU, Dec 1: With an aim to create awareness about various forms of disabilities and ways to deal with it, Army Public School Damana organized an awareness programme with the theme celebrating diversity, under the aegis of ‘Hubs of Learning’- an initiative by CBSE for self-improvement and quality enhancement, here today.
Five schools namely APS Jammu Cantt, Model Academy, Air Force School Satwari, RRL High School and APS Damana showed their exuberant participation in the event with 10 participants from each school.
The main aim of the programme was to encourage a better understanding of people affected by different kinds of disabilities like Autism, Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Intellectual Disability and Cerebral Palsy.
The programme was adorned by Pramod Kumar Srivastava, Principal Model Academy as chief guest and Manmeet Kour, Vice Principal APS Jammu Cantt as guest of honour. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a scintillating group song presented by the students.
The students of participating schools depicted various forms of impairments through nukkad natak. The chief guest appreciated the school for replacing the word ‘Disability’ with a positive word ‘Diversity’ and remarked that every student must realize their potential irrespective of any special ability.
Pushpinder Kaur, Principal APS Damana appreciated the efforts of participating students and said that sky is not the limit. Shallu Kapoor, Vice- Principal of the School shared her distinctive vision by motivating the students to keep their artistic sensibility alive.
The participants were felicitated with a certificate of appreciation by the chief guest. The programme culminated with singing of ‘National Anthem’.
