APMCC expresses confidence in HM’s announcement

JAMMU, Jan 28: All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC)  today said that by announcing the setting up of Advisory Board for Kashmiri migrants the Union Government will  fulfill a long pending demand of Kashmiri Pandits in general and APMCC in particular.
Commenting on the statement of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s announcement in this regard, the APMCC in a handout issued here today said that suggestion in this regard was made to the then Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh by the organisation in 2005.
In a meeting presided over by Vinod Pandit, Chairman APMCC and King C Bharati, national spokesperson, APMCC, the statement of MHA was termed a victory for the APMCC and it was recalled that the demand for setting up of KP Welfare Board was floated by APMCC in 2005 when it submitted a proposal in this regard to then Prime Minister, Dr Singh.
Speaking on the occasion Vinod Pandit said that the demand was later renewed through its vision document painstakingly drafted by senior APMCC leader Vijay Chicken titled “Path for Survival” in which the demand was discussed threadbare giving a blue print for its implementation and rationale.
King C Bharati, national spokesperson, APMCC said that the demand for setting up of KP Welfare Board was later also discussed with the then Chief Minister of Gujarat and incumbent Prime Minister. Narendera Modi when a delegation of the organisation called on him at his residence in 2013.
Bharati said that it was heartening to know that finally GoI has agreed to its demand and setting up of Advisory Board was a good beginning.
He however said that all stakeholders must be consulted and the basic blue print given in APMCC’s Path for Survival be considered before its final implementation besides constituting it as a duly elected board for mass acceptance rather than making it a toothless tiger to accommodate blue eyed people of the power corridors.
Advocate Arun Kandroo, general secretary APMCC recalled that the demand was reiterated by APMCC several time after submitting a proposal at various forums in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 to impress upon the successive Governments for the necessity of setting up of KP Welfare Board.
