APM deferred to Sunday

JAMMU, Feb 2: The State Government today deferred to Sunday the tomorrow’s All Party Meeting (APM) on Panchayat elections to be chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
The meeting was earlier scheduled to be held tomorrow afternoon.
Sources said the APM will now be held at 2 pm at the Chief Minister’s official residence on February 4.
All recognized political parties, both national and regional, have been invited to the meeting to discuss the issue of holding Panchayat elections in the State, sources said.
It may be mentioned here that initially, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Abdul Haq Khan was scheduled to chair the All Party Meeting. However, following resentment shown by some Opposition parties that the Chief Minister should chair the meeting, the Government has agreed to the proposal.
Now, the meeting will be presided over by the Chief Minister in which the Government would seek opinion of all political parties on the Panchayat elections, which were pending for last over one and a half year.
