Another B Tech student held in Jallandhar case

JAMMU, Oct 18: Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir Police have, in a joint operation, arrested another B Tech student studying in Jallandhar, from Awantipora in Pulwama district of South Kashmir and taken him to Jallandhar for sustained interrogation along with four already arrested students-cum-militants there.
With this, total number of Kashmiri students arrested for creating network of Ansar Gazbat-ul-Hind of Zakir Moosa in Jallandhar district of Punjab, has gone up to five.
Police sources identified the militant arrested today from Awantipora as Danish Rehman Sofi son of Abdul Rehman Sofi, a resident of Awantipora. He was studying B Tech in Universal College, Dera Bassi at Jallandhar.
He was produced in a court, which granted his remand to Punjab Police till October 22.
Special Operations Group (SOG) Jammu and Punjab Police had already arrested four B Tech students of two different colleges, hailing from Kashmir, at Jallandhar and recovered arms, ammunition and explosives from their hostel room.
They were part of Zakir Moosa’s militant outfit and were planning to carry out terror strikes in New Delhi.
