JAMMU, June 2: Chhamb Displaced Persons Association-1971, has demanded that Central Government should announce on time settlement package for the displaced persons of the State.
In a meeting of the DPs of 1965, 71 (camp and non-camp) held here today, Capt S R Nagial, president of the organisation, said DPs are surprised that why the Central Government wants to get the survey done at this stage when they have asked State to recommend package for the settlement of refugees/ DPs from PoK and West Pakistan. All the details have already been submitted to the Central Government by the State Government and DPs bodies. And again, now what s the fun of sending draft package to the Centre instead of package duly recommended by the State Cabinet.
He alleged that DPs are being befooled again and intensions of the Government do not appear serious. It has also been learnt that uniform package of Rs 25 lakh is not being recommended. He warned to launch agitation if discrimination was meted out to the Chhamb refugees.
