Anna observes ‘Satyagrah’ at Rajghat for Lokpal on Gandhi Jayanti

NEW DELHI, Oct 2: Protesting against the Modi Government for not implementing the Lokpal Bill, Anna Hazare today sat on a day-long fast at Rajghat, Mahatma Gandhi’s Samadhi here.

Alleging the increase in corruption in the present Government, the anti corruption crusader said that he may launch an agitation in the coming month against this Government’s not living upto the promise of Lokpal Bill. He also announced that by the end of the year or the first week of next year, he will begin with his protest.

He clarifies that during the agitation no person from any front or political party will be allowed to join on the stage and if someone wants to be a part of it, they will have to sit with the public. He informed that his fellow workers were preparing for the agitation in Relegan Sidhi and will also decide upon the venue for the same.

Hazare, who arrived from Pune this morning straight away went to Rajghat to pay tributes and prayers on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 148th birth anniversary. ”I am here to bow in front of the father of the nation”, he added saying that ” Lokpal is yet to be enforced, however I am not sad as it was the trait of the selfish”.

Anna said that today he has written to the Prime Minister saying,” you had promised the people of the country to make it corruption free, but have not delivered on it yet, and due to this today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti I will pray for the country and observe my ‘Satyagrah” here.

Earlier, Anna had written to the PM expressing his grief for the corruption and the problems going on with the farmers in the country and the Government not being able to address the issues. (UNI)
