ANANTNAG: Minister of State for Haj & Auqaf, PHE, I&FC, PDD, Industries and Commerce, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, today laid the foundation stone of the model village at Bakerwal Chek Manzmoh in Qazigund.
Vice-Chairman, Gujjar and Bakerwal Advisory Board was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the model village will benefit all the clusters of the Manzmoh area where facilities shall be developed for the upliftment of the scheduled tribe population.
He said that the Government has conceived a number of schemes for progress and development of the Gujjar and Bakerwal community. He said that it is for the first time that a separate Department for Tribal Affairs has been created by the Government for the holistic development of the ST community.
Andrabi stressed the officers to work with utmost dedication and in synergy so that all the ongoing developmental works are completed in a time-bound manner.
He said that special milk and poultry villages shall be developed on a cooperative basis who shall be provided marketing facilities and forward and backward linkages. Besides, the Government is conceiving schemes for employment generation and skill development of the ST community, he added.
It was given out that the model village at Manzmoh shall come up at an estimated cost of Rs 11 crore and would be replete with all the basic facilities. The model village shall have a better road connectivity, upgraded power transmission and distribution system, better drainage system, sports facilities, provision of potable drinking water, better education and health facilities, facilitation by agriculture, animal and sheep husbandry departments and other gamut of services that are aimed at changing the lifestyle of the ST population. Asset creation, shall however, be the priority while developing the model village.
On the occasion, various public deputations presented their demands before the Minister, who listened to them patiently and assured them of time-bound redressal of all of their genuine demands.
Later, Andrabi inaugurated the macadamization process on Anantnag-Verinag-Dooru road and emphasized the engineers to ensure the quality and timely completion of the work.
