AMCC, JCC, RCC Srinagar register wins in Chevrolet Cup

*Youngsters Shubam, Praful, Samad sparkle

JAMMU, June 22: Aarav Mahajan Cricket Club (AMCC), Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) and Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar registered resounding victories over their rivals to consolidate their positions in the ongoing Chevrolet Cricket Cup 2014, being sponsored by KC Motors Jammu at KC Public School ground adjacent to KC Sports Club, here.
AMCC defeated Lucky Star Cricket Club by 32 runs in an easy contest. Batting first, AMCC scored a modest total of 131 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Abdul Samad was the top scorer with 46 runs off 35 balls, studded with 6 boundaries and one six, while Aanchal Singh contributed 18 runs to the total. For Lucky Star, Vishal took 3 wickets, while Anil claimed one.
In reply, Lucky Star Club managed to score 99 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus lost the match by 32 runs. Surinder Sindu and Lovely contributed 26 and 22 runs to the total respectively. For AMCC, Shiva Sharma, Rahul Sahni and Anchal Singh bagged 2 wickets each, while Vickey Kumar and Sunil Sehgal claimed one wicket each. Abdul Samad was adjudged man of the match.
In another match, Jammu Cricket Club drubbed International Cricket Club by 47 runs in a one-sided contest. Batting first, JCC scored a fighting total of 145 runs in 19.1 overs. Paras Sharma top scored with 44 runs off 33 balls with 5 delectable fours and one six, while Jaswinder Singh contributed 39 runs off 33 balls. For ICC, Sanjay was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 4 wickets, while Bodh Raj and Maqsood Hussain bagged 2 wickets each.
In reply, ICC bundled out for a paltry total of 98 runs, thus lost the match by a margin of 47 runs. Nihal, Rakesh and Sahil contributed 33, 28 and 20 runs to the total respectively. For JCC, Shubam Pundir was the wrecker-in-chief, who captured 6 wickets by conceding 7 runs in 2.4 overs. Vishwajeet Singh took 3/19 in 3 overs and Deepak Dogra  (Baba) claimed one wicket. Shubam Pundir was declared man of the match for his brilliant bowling performance.
In yet another match, RCC Srinagar thrashed KC Hyundai by 9 wickets in a one-sided affair. Batting first, KC Hyundai collapsed at 71 runs in 15.3 overs. Mandeep Singh and Charanpreet Singh contributed 17 and 11 runs to the total respectively. For RCC Srinagar, off-spinner Praful Dhar was the pick of the bowlers, who bagged 3 wickets by conceding 29 runs in his 4 overs, while left-arm spinners Dilbagh Singh and Kuldeep Kumar took 2 wickets each. Rahul Mussa and Amandeep Singh also claimed one wicket each.
In reply, RCC Srinagar scored the required runs in 7 overs by losing 1 wicket, thus won the match easily by 9 wickets. Sahil Singh top scored with 40 runs off 16 balls with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes, while Dilbagh Singh remained unbeaten on 16 runs off 16 balls including one four. Praful Dhar and Dilbagh Singh were declared joint winners of the man of the match award. Westside Coupons worth Rs 1000 each were presented to the man of the match winners by former Delhi Ranji Trophy skipper and president of Jammu Cricket Club, Mithun Manhas in a simple function.
